WhatsApp for iOS has been updated to support Touch ID or Face ID to unlock the app. Users of iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR Face ID can now use Face ID to open WhatsApp, while users of other iPhone models can chose Touch ID to do so.
The feature is available for WhatsApp iOS version 2.19.20. After the feature has been enabled, the user will have to rely on Touch ID or Face ID every time they access the app.
Users will have options to unlock WhatsApp immediately, after 1 minute, after 15 minutes or after one hour.
If the Touch ID or Face ID fails to authenticate the user, they will have to type in the passcode for their app to gain access to WhatsApp.
