Vidarbha proved all critics wrong in the recent Ranji Trophy Final. By claiming the trophy for a second consecutive time they have proven that last year’s victory was no fluke.
In a thrilling match at the VCA Stadium where Saurashtra had to chase a total of 206, Vidarbha were able to take wickets at regular intervals to make sure that they won by 78 runs.
Left-arm spinner Aditya Sarwate claimed three wickets and was named man of the match. Saurashtra has now ended in second place for the third time in a row after this defeat having yet to win their maiden trophy.
Vidarbha is now the sixth team to have defended the title. Other teams to have managed this feat include Mumbai, Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
