Google is reported to roll out Navigation with Augmented Reality (AR) soon in its Google Maps platform. This will be a combination of the Google Map and Street View platforms. The company is currently encouraging Local Guides in the platform that are community reviewers to try the feature.

The App works in simple manner. Once you start the application Google wants you look around to recognize the buildings around. From then on the user will be prompted to follow the arrows.

There is a nice prompt to also put down the phone to avoid bumping into someone or something.

It is expected that the feature will be much more practical in the near future when more individuals will user Glass-like tools. However it is still a decent application to try out to explore a city you do know nothing about.
