Former Indian cricketer Amit Bhandari was attacked in New Delhi’s Kashmere Gate area on 11th February. The incident took place at the St Stephen’s Ground where trials of the Under-23 team were being conducted.
Bhandari is currently the Delhi District Cricket Association chairman of the senior selection committee. It is suspected that the assailants were from the Under-23 players who did not get selected for the team.
The incident took place around 1 pm during the trials for the side for the Under-23 Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Bhandari has received seven stitches on his head and legs but is reported to be out of danger.
He released a statement saying that he has notified the police about the names of the attackers and the reason for the selections made as well.
