West Indies have recalled veteran batsmen Chris Gayle to play in the first two ODI’s against England. This move was made in preparation for the upcoming World Cup in May.
Gayle had last played for the side against Bangladesh last July. However after that he was not selected for the tours that happened later.
Gayle holds the record in the West Indies side for the most number of centuries in the ODI format of the game with 23. He is also just trailing Brain Lara in the number of runs scored in this format of the game.
The West Indies selection board also included youngster Nicholas Pooran to the side. They are hoping to test different combinations in the 5 match series against England to better understand what could work in the World Cup.
