Apple has finally released the fix for the bug that was found earlier last week in its FaceTime app. The bug enabled callers to eavesdrop on receivers while using its group video chat feature.
The callers could hear what going on on the other end of the line even before the receiver picked up the call.
The company made a statement on Friday saying, “We again apologize and we thank our customers for their patience. In addition to addressing the bug that was reported, our team conducted a thorough security audit of the FaceTime service and made additional updates to both the FaceTime app and server to improve security.”
The bug was reported by a 14-year-old Grant Thompson from Arizona. Apple has decided to pay an undisclosed amount to the Thompson family for their son’s discovery along with a generous gift towards his education.
